PM Group – A Top International Design Firm

PM Group recently joined the ranks of ENR’s Top 200 International Design Firms and Top 150 Global Design Firms.

The ENR (Engineering News Record) listings contain the ranking by 2008 revenue of the Top 200 international engineers, architects and consultants. The International listing is based on design revenue from projects outside the ‘home country’. The Global listing is based on a firms total design revenue. Although recognising a global recession which has affected virtually every region and market, ENR’s figures reflect the heady days of the 2007-2008 boom with a rise of 22% in revenues to $53 billion from projects outside each companies respective home country.

Pat McGrath, PM Group CEO, commented that “PM Group’s inclusion is recognition of our growing reputation as a leading international A&E company. Although we have seen a retraction of the industry back to 2007 levels, our principal focus is in the Life Sciences Sector, which has not been as badly impacted as other sectors. Western Europe still holds opportunities, particularly Belgium, France and Germany as well as India and China. Many Governments are still investing heavily in healthcare, education, universities and publicly funded research and development. We see this in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India, China, Singapore and Australia,” he says. Also, “the Food Sector seems to be quite resilient to the recession,” he added, noting that PM is currently working on five infant nutritional facilities with a combined project value of over $1 billion in Asia and the Middle East.

Boosting its presence in these new markets, PM Group decided to enter architect-led projects in Healthcare and Education by acquiring award winning architects, Devereux and Dewjo’c in the U.K. Devereux Architects is now a Top 10 architectural practice of some 250 people across Europe and servicing international markets. According to Pat McGrath, “These moves allow PM to provide conceptual and front-end design while also providing construction management services. As ever, we could not have achieved this prestigious ranking without the dedication, expertise and commitment of our people”.
