Safety Milestone at Merck Sharp & Dohme, Ireland

Merck Sharp & Dohme’s Vaccine, Biologics, Sterile Facility (VBSF) project in Carlow, Ireland recently achieved One Million Man-hours without a Lost Time Incident.

This major accomplishment was achieved only as the result of a constant commitment by everyone onsite towards embracing a positive attitude to safety.

A ‘Hearts and Minds’ programme rolled out by PM Group proved to be the foundation on which the Positive Safety Culture blossomed with constant support from the client, the contractors management teams and craft workers.
PM Group provided all architectural design; engineering for site development, infrastructure, materials maintenance storage facility; and procurement and construction management services for the project. Construction commenced in October 2008 and Mechanical Completion of the final systems was achieved in May 2010.
