PM Supports UCC's New School of Pharmacy

Thursday 22 July 2004

PM is to support a new School of Pharmacy at University College Cork (UCC). The School will educate students to graduate level with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and will also provide postgraduate taught programmes in Hospital Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy.

The 5,000m² School will be an important part of UCC’s increasingly interdisciplinary research structure. Spanning Biosciences and Healthcare, it will provide an international centre of excellence for teaching, research and continuing professional development.

On receipt of the gift, Dr Jean van Sinderen-Law, Director of Development at UCC, expressed the sincerest gratitude of the University and emphasized the need to consolidate relationships with partners such as PM to enable it deliver on its strategic plans for growth. The School of Pharmacy is a critically important ingredient for Cork to develop as an internationally recognised cluster hub for the biopharmaceutical sector in the Munster region. In striving to achieve this, both UCC and PM’s ambitions are fully aligned.

At the recent presentation to UCC, Pat McGrath, PM’s CEO said ‘We are delighted to be associated with this important university project and our support demonstrates PM’s commitment to supporting UCC in its quest to position itself as an internationally competitive provider of the highest level of teaching and research in pharmacy and scientific disciplines’.
