Aviva Stadium

PM Group led the Project Management and QS team for the recently completed redevelopment of the flagship stadium at Lansdowne Road, Dublin.

The Aviva Stadium project was the brainchild of the Lansdowne Road Stadium Development Company (LRSDC), a 50:50 joint venture body established by the IRFU and FAI to provide a world class home for Irish rugby and soccer.

The redeveloped stadium has an all-seated capacity in excess of 50,000 for Rugby and Soccer. All seating in the new stadium is under cover of a roof, however the roof does not extend over the pitch. The new stadium features an exciting and innovative architectural theme in harmony with the surrounding cityscape, and complimentary to its adjoining neighbours. The stadium consists of a continuous curvilinear stand enclosing all four sides of the ground. The South, East and West stands have four tiers of seating for spectators whilst the North stand has a single tier due to proximity to local houses. The lower and upper tiers provide the main volume of spectating facilities whilst the mid-tiers provide space for corporate and ten-year ticket holders. Space for the redevelopment has been created by a realignment of the pitch and by the creation of a new access podium over the railway line. This podium, which was created above the railway line, allows ticket holders at all levels of the West stand access the stadium at this level.
