The new General Hospital for the population of Gibraltar required an innovative solution. Reflecting the limited land area available for major new buildings the alternative was to convert an existing building. A large high quality office complex on the waterfront, which had never been occupied, was purchased by the Government and converted to form the new hospital.
This 201-bed acute hospital contains the full range of departments and overcame the limitations of using an office building to provide a hospital of exceptional quality.
