J&J Vistakon - Opthalmics
Vistakon first developed a greenfield facility to manufacture market-leading contact lenses, and has since been continuously expanding the plant.
Vistakon Ireland is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, a world-leading healthcare corporation. Vistakon has been continuously expanding Its state-of-the-art manufacturing operation in Limerick, Ireland where it produces ACUVUE and other market-leading disposable contact lenses for the European and Asian market.
The project initially involved the construction of a new 28,500m² manufacturing facility. Vistakon appointed PM to provide project management, engineering design and procurement services for this development. The building comprised 8,500m² class 100,000 clean production area, packaging, warehousing, shipping and receiving, administration and utility areas.
A second 4,000m² expansion and numerous fit-out projects have since been successfully completed. We continued our role through to the Phase 3 Expansion which added a further 11,000m² to the facility. We also provided a production-Installation team for the installation set up and start up of qualification of the automated production lines.
PM continues to provide engineering services to Vistakon for ongoing projects, including energy projects, production line upgrades and retrofits. For these activities and projects we have provided project management, architecture, engineering design and procurement services to GMP regulatory standards.
