Xerox - Greenfield Technology Park
Xerox Technology Park in Dundalk, Ireland was a Greenfield development comprised of 5 buildings with 69,675m² of floor space, on a 45-hectare campus.
The briefing, design, procurement and completion of the Xerox campus represented a very challenging design and construction schedule.
PM was responsible for design, project management and construction management on this project and was supported by Architects Keane Murphy Duff, and landscape designers Brady Shipman Martin. Together, they developed a masterplan that balanced the park's technical requirements with the need to create a user-friendly and visually impressive environment.
Each of the 5 buildings on the campus had different requirements, from a class 100 cleanroom environment in the Inkjet building to processing of powders in the Toner building. In addition, each building had different end-users who were geographically spread. Close co-operation between PM and Xerox was a key factor in the successful completion of the project.
This was a complex project and although the design and construction teams had to contend with a number of challenges, the project was delivered 15 months after construction began. The resultant facility established a new benchmark for Xerox plants around the world.
Throughout the project, PM implemented a rigorous Safety Management programme and worked hand-in-hand with Xerox and the numerous contractors involved to achieve an outstanding safety record in this project, which had over 2 million man-hours and a workforce which peaked at 1,200 people
