PM worked with Dublin Bus to develop new facilities for garaging, servicing and maintaining its growing fleet
To meet the growing demands on Dublin's public transport system, Dublin Bus increased significantly the number of buses operating on the streets of Ireland's Capital City as part of an overall improvement strategy for Dublin's transportation system. New facilities for garaging, servicing and maintaining this growing fleet were required and Dublin Bus appointed PM to provide a multi-discipline design team for the redevelopment of its existing Broadstone Bus Depot and for the development of a new greenfield Bus Depot at Harristown.
PM's role in both projects was to provide a complete range of Architectural, Engineering and Quantity Surveying Services. Redevelopment of the Broadstone Garage involved working with joint clients Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus, and included both new building work, and rehabilitation and renovation of existing cut-stone buildings. The Harristown project was the first garage to be built by Dublin Bus in 30 years.
The project provided PM's multi-disciplinary building group with an opportunity to create a Landmark building using striking and innovative yet functional design. The building is designed around an aerofoil form which lends itself well to a 21st Century Transport Hub.
